ViziLite Plus Annual Oral Cancer Screening

To help us maintain the highest standard of care, our practice offers ViziLite Plus exams as an
integral part of our annual oral cancer screening examination. Due to the diagnostic limitations of a visual examination alone, the ViziLite Plus Exam offers a more comprehensive oral cancer screening option. ViziLite Plus is a simple technology that assists in the early detection of oral abnormalities including premalignant lesions and oral cancer. When oral cancer is found early, treatment is 90% successful.

Who is at risk for oral cancer? Virtually everyone is. Alarmingly, more than 25% of oral cancer patients have no lifestyle risk factors.

Highest risk: patients age 40 and older and lifestyle risk factors
(tobacco use and alcohol consumption); patients with a history of oral cancer
High risk: patients age 40 and older; tobacco users of any age
Increased risk: patients age 18-39 without lifestyle risk factors (sexually active (HPV 16/18)

We recommend this exam for all of our patients that are at an
increased risk for oral cancer. Dental insurance might not cover this
advanced oral cancer screening. The fee for the ViziLite Plus exam
